This is a discussion on China Train within China Train Forum at cnvol.com.

I'm travelling to China next week and will be visiting lots of different cities. Looking at train timetables I've vaguely planned out which trains I would hope to get between cities.
I'll be arriving in Beijing, then travelling Beijing>Hengshui, Hengshui>Dezhou>Qingdao, Qingdao>Shanghai, Shanghai>Beijing. Given that Beijing should have a central reservation system for tickets, will it be possible to get tickets for all the trains when I arrive in Beijing at one of the main stations with a counter for foreign nationals? Or will I have to book tickets in the cities I'm travelling from?
Any advice gratefully received!

Yes you can now buy any train ticket at one ticket window if ticket was not sold out. Remember to take your passport. If you can read and speak Chinese, offical telephone system (call 12306 anywhere) and also internet system (www.12306.cn) are available for booking tickets.
